The snakeheads are members of the freshwater perciform fish family Channidae, native to Africa and Asia. These elongated, predatory fish are distinguished by a long dorsal fin, large mouth and shiny teeth. They breathe air with gills as well as with suprabranchial organs developing when they grow older, which is a primitive form of a labyrinth organ. The two extant genera are Channa in Asia and Parachanna in Africa, consisting of 30 to 35 species. <br />

<i><u><b><br />White Lion Taxonomy</b></u></i><br />

These lions are like regular lions, except for the color of their coat. Lions belong to genus Panthera in the family Felidae. Their species named Panthera leo is believed to have evolved in Africa, before thousands of years. There are eight sub species of lions and one among them is Panthera leo krugeri, known as the Southeast African Lion. These lions are found in the Southeast regions of Africa, which include the Kruger National Park. It is in this region that white lions are found. So, these animals are also referred to as African white lions and are classified under the subspecies Panthera leo krugeri. So, white lions are members of this genus, in which most of the members have a sandy brown coat color.<br />
<br />
White lions are unique for their white coat. You may come across white variants of various animal species. This include white rabbits, white squirrels, white giraffes, etc. White coat color in animals could be due to a congenital disorder called albinism, which causes complete or partial loss of melanin in the eyes, hair and skin. Unlike albino lions, white lions have normal colored eyes, lips and paw pads. Just as the normal lions, these lions too have golden to yellowish brown eye color. In some rare cases, blue-colored eyes are also seen in these lions.<br />

The white coat color of these lions are often described as a genetic condition called 'leucism'. It is said that such hair color is due to chinchilla mutation. This mutation results in deposition of lesser amounts of pigments along the hair shaft, resulting in a paler coat. So, these lions may have a coat color that ranges from pale blond to almost pure white. It has been observed that white lion cubs are born with a pure white hair color that fades to blond, as they grow. In short, it is the recessive gene (called chinchilla or color inhibitor gene) that is said to be responsible for the white hair color.<br />

<b>A Fish that can Swim Up a Man's Urethra, So Don't Pee in the Amazon River.</b></blockquote>
It is true that you should not pee in the Amazon River as there is a fish-like parasite that can swim up through your urine stream into your urethra and embed it's fin-like spikes into your urethra and can grow inside you. Its sounds like fake and foolish or some people feels it horrific story but it is not fiction.<br />
<br />
The parasite is called a candiru' fish. An article in Urology by John Herman in 1973 describes this hideous little parasite. It is actually related to the catfish. It is slimy, slim and has little spikes that grow backwards and will be impossible to remove from the bladder without surgery. The average specimen grows to approximately 3 inches long and is about a quarter of an inch in diameter. It lodges itself inside the gills of a larger fish and sucks their blood to live. It can swim up into the urethra of women even easier because of the way the vagina is designed. This is another unfortunate example of the luck of women.<br />
<br />
The story of the Penis Fish has been believed by the natives of the Amazon for many centuries and has been proven to be true. It is interesting that herbal remedies by the natives have been effective.<br />
<br />
They believe that the hot tea from the Jagua tree will soften the skeletal bones of the parasite and the hideous little monster will be expelled through the urine. This idea was scoffed at until Urologist Eugenio Lins used a synthetic version of the tea to treat bladder incrustations. He found that it was effective. He believed that it might dissolve kidney stones. This was way back in 1943.<br />
<br />
A navy surgeon Charles Ammerman operated on several different victims of the Penis Fish and removed the parasites back in the 1930's. He sliced open the bladder to remove them. Even if the story of the Penis Fish is considered fiction there are documented cases of it. People thought that the episode on Grey's Anatomy was fictitious where there was an unfortunate victim of this creepy little parasite. It was later proven to be true.<br />

Born when Gladstone was Prime Minister, <i><b>Thomas the tortoise has survived everything since 1882</b></i>, even Nazi bombs.<br />

But Thomas, now <span style="color: #0b5394;"><b>Britain’s oldest resident</b></span>, hid a secret under its shell for most of those 130 years – being a female.<br />
<br />
The tortoise was pulled from the rubble of a bomb-hit house in Essex in 1945. But it was only when owner June Le Gallez of Guernsey inherited Thomas in 1978 that a vet found the truth, after 96 years.<br />
<br />
<i><b>She was Born when William Gladstone was in Downing Street and Queen Victoria was on the throne, the animal is now celebrating its 130th birthday.</b></i><br />
<br />
The longevity of the Hermann’s tortoise is all the more remarkable as it had to be pulled from the rubble of a house during the Blitz in the Second World War, but went on to see in another seven decades and counting.<br />
<br />
Owner June Le Gallez, 54, who cares for Thomas at her home on the Channel Island of Guernsey, said: "Thomas is very much part of the family. I have pictures with her when I was as young as two.<br />
<br />
"Because she is so old we thought we would have lost her by now but she is tough. I sometimes wonder if she will outlive me. She's always been very big for her age. <br />
<br />
‘Thomas used to live and run in the garden when she was younger but now we keep her in the house and she bumbles around.<br />
<br />
Mrs Le Gallez inherited Thomas from her cousin Grace Hilditch in 1978.<br />
<br />
Ms Hilditch had been given Thomas in 1922 as a present from her father Harry, who was friends with a reptile keeper at London Zoo.<br />
<br />
When they adopted Thomas the keeper informed Harry she was 40 years old putting her birth date at 1882.<br />
<br />
Thomas then lived happily with Ms Hilditch for 56 years at her home in Ilford, Essex, which was bombed in 1945 and a warden managed to rescue her from the rubble.<br />
<br />
After Ms Hilditch had fallen ill and later die,She was given to Mrs Le Gallez and husband Richard <br />
<br />
June said: ‘The journey from Essex to Guernsey with Thomas was a rather funny one.<br />
<br />
‘Staff on the train asked me if I wanted anything to eat and drink and if Thomas wanted any lettuce leaves.’<br />

In another shot, Banfi gets up close to <span style="color: #0b5394;"><b>a huge anaconda that is lying on the riverbank and glistening in the ferocious tropical heat.</b></span><br />

Banfi, a father-of-two from Switzerland, said that As the snake had just eaten it didn't take much interest in us.<br />
<br />
'Everything is possible but I don't think it would have eaten us. I was very close, I could have touched it if I wanted to.'<br />

The name literally means 'Thick Forest of the South' and it's easy to see why.<br />

Banfi added: 'At the first moment it's scary because you don't know the animal and everybody says it's dangerous.<br />

'But after a while you understand that nothing happens if you respect the snake.<br />
<br />
'I have never been so close to a snake like this before. But I think a small poisonous snake is more scary than a big one. At least you can see the anacondas clearly and know what they're doing.'<br />

A <b>Black Dragonfish</b>
 is very long and very thin fish that lives in the deep water and will 
go as low in the water as about 2 thousand feet. They live in 
mesopelagic to bathypelagic waters at depths of about 2,000 m.<br />

 species presents one of the most extreme cases of sex**l  dimorphism 
known. The female is maximum of  40cm long, with small eyes, chin 
barbell  and long fang-like teeth, which are used for catching its 
primary food item - other fish. The male is just  5cm and has no teeth, 
no chin barbel, a non-functional gut, and is dark brown rather than 
black.<br />

The Armadillo Lizard is a lizard endemic to desert areas of the 
southern Africa. It is also known as the Typical Girdled Lizard, 
Armadillo Girdled Lizard, Golden Armadillo Lizard, and Armadillo 
Spiny-tailed Lizard. The nostrils of the Armadillo Lizard are formed 
into the little tubes. This tubes help the Armadillo Lizards smell for 
food or predators. Its size ranges from 16 to 21 cm (6½ to 8½ in) in 
length. It grows up to 12 centimeters snout-to-vent length. The head of 
the Armadillo Lizard is narrow in shape. It is fairly slow moving 
animal, but when the Armadillo Lizard thinks or knows it's in danger, it
 runs as fast as it can go for cover. It can be found in pet stores and 
it is quite easy to breed in captivity. It lives in social groups of up 
to 30 to 60, but usually fewer. The Armadillo Lizard has its babies in 
the late summer. Only 1 or 2 babies are born during that time. When the 
lizards give birth, the babies are live-born, but do have a thin 
membranous shell that they need to break through. In the wild its most 
common prey items are the termites Microhodotermes viator and Hodotermes

The crazy part is that those lines you see running through the wings like veins are actually its ribs. They can expand and contract their chests at will to glide great distances. We were only able to catch females as they were laying their eggs. All we could do is watch as the males soared overhead.<br />

The Victoria Crowned Pigeon, Goura victoria, is a large, bluish-grey pigeon with elegant blue lace-like crests, maroon breast and red iris. The bird may be recognized easily by the unique white tips on its crests and by its deep 'whooping' sounds made while calling. Both sexes are similar. It is on average 74 cm (29 in) long and weighs 2.38 kilograms (5.3 lbs). It is marginally larger than the other crowned pigeons on average and likely the largest species of pigeon of earth. The name commemorates the British monarch, Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom.<br />
<br />
One of three superficially similar species of crowned pigeons (the others being the Western Crowned Pigeon and the Southern Crowned Pigeon), the Victoria Crowned Pigeon is distributed in the lowland and swamp forests of northern New Guinea and surrounding islands. Its diet consists mainly of fruits, figs, seeds and invertebrates. The female usually lays a single white egg.<br />
<br />
There are two subspecies of the Victoria Crowned Pigeon, Goura victoria victoria, the nominate race is the smaller of the two supspecies and can be found in Yapen, Biak & Supiori. Goura victoria beccarii is found on the mainland of New Guinea.</div>
